A secluded pebble bay on the east coast, backed by a wooded valley and reached on foot, a favourite for high-water swimming.

Tides are the same island-wide. These are today’s heights and times for Fermain Bay.
Fermain lies below wooded slopes between St Peter Port and Jerbourg, reached by a walk from town along the cliff path. The pebble beach and sheltered setting make it popular with swimmers, but it still faces the open sea. Conditions must be checked before entering.
Fermain Beach Café sits just above the shore. Getting there normally involves a downhill walk and a climb on the way back; there’s no ordinary vehicle access to the beach.
Particularly popular for swimming around higher water; more of the pebble shore is exposed at low tide. Wind, sea state and your own ability matter more than the tide time alone.
Tides. Tide predictions are forecasts. Actual sea level is affected by atmospheric pressure, wind and waves. Always observe the sea and your surroundings.
Swimming. Sea swimming carries risks: currents, waves, rocks, submerged structures, boats and cold water. This page is for planning and does not confirm conditions are safe.
Facilities. Facilities and café opening hours change seasonally. Check directly before making a journey specifically to use them.
