A horseshoe-shaped sandy bay backed by dunes, more sheltered in character than the island’s broad, open west-coast beaches.
Tides are the same island-wide. These are today’s heights and times for Port Soif.
Port Soif is smaller and more enclosed than Vazon or Cobo. Sand dunes back the beach and pink granite frames the bay, which makes it a popular choice for family visits and swimming when conditions suit.
It’s especially popular for swimming around higher water. Note that the main beach access includes a sloping approach and steps. The surrounding nature trail is flatter, but the beach itself is not step-free.
Best known as a higher-water swimming spot. At low tide the sea retreats a long way across the gently shelving bay, so you may have a fair walk to reach it. As at any Guernsey beach, watch for currents and check the sea before entering.
Tides. Tide predictions are forecasts. Actual sea level is affected by atmospheric pressure, wind and waves. Always observe the sea and your surroundings.
Swimming. Sea swimming carries risks: currents, waves, rocks, submerged structures, boats and cold water. This page is for planning and does not confirm conditions are safe.
