Guernsey's largest sandy beach and its best-known surfing spot: surf, bodyboarding and long west-coast walks.

Tides are the same island-wide. These are today’s heights and times for Vazon Bay.
Vazon is a broad, open west-coast bay with a long sandy shoreline. It is Guernsey’s principal surfing beach, home to Guernsey Surf School, but on settled days it is equally popular with swimmers, families and walkers.
Surf conditions depend on the combination of swell, wind, tide and seabed. A tide time alone can’t tell you whether the surf will be good. Beginners are best off with an established surf school. On calm days, watch for surfers and bodyboarders around the recognised surfing area.
A huge area of firm sand is uncovered at low water, with the sea a considerable distance out. The bay changes character completely between high and low tide.
Tides. Tide predictions are forecasts. Actual sea level is affected by atmospheric pressure, wind and waves. Always observe the sea and your surroundings.
Swimming. Sea swimming carries risks: currents, waves, rocks, submerged structures, boats and cold water. This page is for planning and does not confirm conditions are safe.
Facilities. Facilities and café opening hours change seasonally. Check directly before making a journey specifically to use them.
